Loud, Domineering, Stubborn . . . just like every other fifteen year old girl in the world.  Who would have thought that on her fifteenth birthday, Kagome Higurashi would fall down a powerful, magic well linking her modern world with a weird feudal world where demons and monsters lurk around every corner?  Well, not Kagome, obviously.  So it came as a great surprise when it happened, but it wasn't the only surprise in store for her!

Kaede tends to get injured easily, and to heal more slowly than the other characters, I would guess it has to do with her being so old.  Kaede has some spiritual powers, not quite as much as Miroku, and far less than Kikyo or Kagome.  Her skills extend to healing medicines, a fair shot with a bow, leader of her village, and protector of the village.  She can write talismans, and hers actually work, unlike those of Kagome's Grampa.  She is the one who first discovered Kagome's remarkable resemblance to the dead Kikyo and remarked that Kagome is Kikyo reborn.

Despite the fact that she does a very good job as coming off all grandmotherly and everything, Kaede has a will of iron and she always gets her way.  If we think back to the first few episodes where Inuyasha and Kagome are refusing to work together, it is Kaede who insists upon the alliance and eventually forces them to work together.  When you add this to inumerable circumstances where her sharp tongue and quick mind trick the two it's quite daunting the way that Kaede has pretty much everyone doing what she wants them to.

Of course, a lot of it is, like Inuyasha, she's just flat out stubborn.  She does't take into consideration her old age or her evident frailty that we see every stinking time something attacks the village.  Every time Kaede comes off with some sort of injury, usually to her arm.  In fact, It's also usually the same arm.  Anyway.

Kaede's also pretty smart.  She knows all about the herbs growing in the forest and she teaches Kagome much of what she knows, which really surprises Inuyasha becasue he sees that maybe Kagome's not entirely useless, then he pushes her down the well.

Yup. She is a remarkably stable, calm-tempered woman and never even raised her voice to the man she believed murdered her sister.  Personally, I think there's more to the story there, but we're not going to get involved in my theories.  After all, my brother informed me that all my theories suck.  So, anyway.  That's all there is to say about Kaede until I think of something else.
