Kagome returns home at the beginning after a short fight with Inuyasha in which he comes off worse than she does.  Inuyasha doesn't want her to leave and does everything in his power to prevent it from happening, but Kagome goes home anyway because she has a huge test coming up and she needs to study.  Back at home, Kagome goes to school, but while she's there the jewel shards awaken a creepy package in the storehouse which starts to glow.  All day that she's at school, her friends keep asking her about her various affirmities.  Hojo, the poor misguided boy who happens to be madly in love with Kagome, appears and gives her some sort of medicinal sandals.  While Kagome's at school, the package catches on fire and the talismans sealing it are gone... scary.  An evil, creepy looking old Noh mask emurges and the store house catches on fire.  Grampa runs in and has every intention of sealing the evil mask away for good.  Go grampa.  But it doesn't go exactly like he planned, an the roof of the storehouse collapses on him, and the Noh mask circles in for the kill.  Kagome returns home to find that the shrine was on fire.  Grampa has escaped the evil mask and has been taken to the hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.  The firemen are left to clean the mess up.  However, the mask emurges from a pool of water under the floor (why there's a pool of water under the floor, I'm not sure, but just the same there is).  The mask flies out of the water like a bat out of hell and attatches itself to one of the firemen's faces.  Poor dude, that really sucks.  Sota comes home and he's pretty scared.  Kagome tries to calm him down, but at that moment, the mask-controlled fireman's body decides to steal a firetruck and terrorize the police cars and anyone else in it's way.  At the hospital, Kagome learns that the doctors aren't entirely sure what's going on with Grampa.  His injuries weren't serious but he still hasn't woken up.  Kagome learns that when grampa had been brought in, he'd had his wonderful talismans stuck all over his face.  We're very glad that he did this because we are privy to the knowledge that that's the only thing that kept grampa from becoming part of everybody's favorite killer mask.  Kagome returns home, and she and Sota are going to have to spend the night alone.  Mrs. Higurashi is worried about Grampa, and she will spend the night at the hospital with him.  While Kagome tries to study, Sota comes in and tells her how scared he is.  Kagome tells him not to be scared, that they're perfectly safe, and of course, at that moment, the Flesh-Eating Noh Mask decides to plow through the wall in it's stolen fire truck.  Nice timing.  It wants the jewel shards (imagine that, never saw that coming).  All day, it's been gathering up human bodies, so now it looks something like a great big blob of chocolate pudding with a cracked-up old Noh mask plastered in the middle.  Lovely.  Kagome grabs the jewels and takes off, Sota under one arm.  Her hand's been injured, and Sota tells her about it, but she brushes it off.  I guess she's used to being bloodied up by now.  As she's running, she realizes that she can't defeat the mask herself, so sends little Sota to the well to get Inuyasha.  Sota jumps in the well and splats like a pancake on the bottom.  He can't go through the well.  He sits there crying for a few seconds, and somehow, Inuyasha magically hears him through the well.  I don't know why, I don't know how, he just does.  When Inuyasha comes through, he picks Sota up and follows the scent of Kagome's blood.  Guess it was kind of lucky she got cut.  Anyway, Kagome runs into a construction site and the mask, of course, is hot on her tail.  Just as the mask prepares to kill Kagome, Inuyasha arrives and saves her (surprise surprise).  The mask fights with Inuyasha, then traps Inuyasha inside itself.  The Noh mask attacks Kagome again, and she tosses the jewel shards to Sota, who takes off with them.  Of course, now the mask is after poor little Sota.  Inuyasha breaks free from the mask's pudding-like body and slices and dices the mask, inches from Sota's face.  Sota gives Inuyasha the shards, and Kagome thinks how cool Inuyasha looks.  THen she realizes that she hasn't studied all night, freaks out, and runs to school, studying what sounds like right triangles.  Yeah, good luck with the geometry, kiddo!
